April 2021 - Curating a Festival
This month's update is from our Artistic Director Georgia Smith.
Hi!
We've been really busy as of late at Framework, if you haven't heard WE'RE ORGANISING A FESTIVAL! Scotland's first emerging theatre makers festival, might I add. I can't begin to describe how amazed I am at how far we've come.
My main role in the festival has been in the creative sessions. As part of the festival, we're putting on six wonderful shows, thus, Emma C and myself have been working with each artist individually to develop their shows or to bounce ideas off of. It's been a pleasure working with so many emerging creatives and I can't wait to see what each of them produces. I'm also really proud of the range of workshops we've curated for the festival, from directing to web design to funding, there's something there for everyone.
On a separate note, we can reveal we've had our first session with Louise Gregory from Navigate who is helping us develop a show we've had in our brains for a while now. At the moment it's titled 'Witches'. It's still in development so there's not a lot I can say about it, because even I don't know! But what I do know is it will be a feminist play highlighting modern day witches and the witch hunts that took place in the Lothians. Louise has been amazing, she's just as passionate about the history of witches as we are and I'm so excited to see what we create together.
I feel like we sign off every blog teasing that something big is coming but...
We have HUGE news that we've been ordered to keep hush hush for the moment, but rest assured we can't wait to share it with you!
Until next time,
Georgia Smith - Artistic Director
