June 2021 - A Month of New Beginnings
This month's blog entry is our first from our brand new Associate Producer Jennifer! Give this one a read for a run down of all our current (very exciting) projects!
Hello! This month’s blog documents the beginning of a whole host of excitement for Framework! First and foremost, the first month of me! I am absolutely thrilled to have completed my first full month being part of the Framework Team. It has been an absolute pleasure to interact with so many emerging artists that are part of the Framework network, and of course getting to work with the dream trio.
I’d like to coin that June has been the beginning of a new chapter for the future of Framework (mostly because of me) but also because of how many amazing things have been kickstarted in the last few weeks.
We launched ‘HOME', our project produced in association with Vanishing point, funded by National Lottery via Creative Scotland to support 4 young playwrights to write a short play over the summer of 2021! We received incredible applications, and after a day of lovely interviews we have confirmed our 4 writers! Keep your eyes peeled for more details on this project being released this month!
The Framework Team also completed the R&D supported by Illumination Theatre Service’s Navigate project. We can’t thank Louise enough for the experience and can’t wait to see what the future of the project holds. Thank you, also, to all of those who identify as witches who got in touch to chat about your experiences, you provided a breadth of knowledge and it’s always a joy to speak to new people!
We also released a callout for a very mysterious dark comedic audio play, which has now been cast and is ramping up to start production very soon! More details on all of this is coming your way soon too!
Our collaboration with the lovely Moot Point Collective has also been announced! ‘Kneecaps’ by Joe Hunter, directed by Rachel Fraser, produced by Leigh Simpson will be performed as a staged reading. It is an absolute scream of a play and it’s a pleasure working with the fab group.
And finally, we are working with the wonderful Ellen Wilson who is doing some research for a verbatim script about ‘burnout’. She is looking for those who have experienced or have opinions on burnout to get in touch to be interviewed. If you want to get involved email ellenbwilson2010@hotmail.co.uk and Ellen will provide you with more information.
So, all-in-all another busy month for the Framework Team! We are so excited about these projects
and can’t wait to see what the next month brings!
Jen (Associate Producer)
