'___after___' Performers Call-Out

Framework Theatre Company are thrilled to be creating ‘___after___’ as part of Scotland’s Year of Stories 2022.

About the Project

‘___after___’ will be a night of short performances written, directed and performed by emerging artists who are Scottish or Scotland-based. The rehearsals and performances will take place on one day in-person, delivered via livestreaming to audiences. This event has been supported by the Year of Stories 2022 Community Stories Fund. This fund is being delivered in partnership between VisitScotland and Museums Galleries Scotland with support from National Lottery Heritage Fund thanks to National Lottery players.

We are looking for six emerging performers to bring short (10 minute) piece of writing to life in a live-streamed event this autumn. The rehearsal process will be a singular session on the day of the performance in Glasgow on 15th October (to be confirmed). These works have been written by 6 emerging writers and are inspired by iconic Scottish stories and storytellers. This could mean a re-telling of an old story from a fresh perspective, writing in the style of an iconic storyteller or a response to a story/storytellers!

These pieces will be performed in rep, meaning that 6 actors will be hired to perform 10 roles.

To Apply

Please send a self-tape to hello@frameworktheatre.com via WeTransfer or Google drive link by 5pm 21st September. Please perform a monologue no longer than 3 minutes, in your own accent, noting if the track you are auditioning for is a comedic one. The self-tape can be reused from elsewhere, if it is suitable for this project.

Please also include a short clip (no longer than 1 minute) where you tell us which track you are auditioning for, a bit about yourself, what kind of theatre you enjoy making, why you would like to be involved in this project and any special skills.

Please mention if you are comfortable performing as a musician/singer and if you can speak Scots, Gaelic or Doric (these are not crucial notes but highly beneficial to us). As mentioned above, these pieces will be performed in rep, and so some performers will be required to perform in more than 1 piece. We will be casting 6 actors for 10 roles. These roles have been split into 6 tracks.

Please click here for further details of tracks and character breakdowns.

The fee for this work is £150.

You will only be required for the singular day of rehearsals + performance in Glasgow (15th October TBC). You will receive the script(s) in advance and will be expected to have reviewed it prior to rehearsals.

Travel expenses will be covered within Scotland, so if you live outwith the central belt we highly encourage you to apply.

If you have any questions about this opportunity or would like this information in a different format, please email jennifer@frameworktheatre.com

Applicants will be contacted by email by 5pm on Wednesday 28th September 2022 to let them know whether they have been selected for the project.
